Biopsies

Dr. Diaz emphasizes the importance of biopsies in the early detection and accurate diagnosis of oral conditions, including oral cancer, as they enable the formulation of precise and effective treatment plans. By obtaining and analyzing a small sample of tissue from any suspicious areas, you can gain essential insights that significantly enhance the prospects for successful treatment and a favorable prognosis.

What to Expect

During a biopsy the targeted area will be numbed with a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, and a small tissue sample will be carefully taken; sutures may or may not be required, depending on the site and size of the sample. Our collected samples are sent to the Cleveland Clinic Head & Neck Pathology department, where they are examined by some of the top Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists in the United States, guaranteeing comprehensive and expert analysis.
